Top Ten Reasons I Love Having Boys

I should preface this by saying I have absolutely nothing against girls, but boys are what I’ve got so that’s what I’m going with…

1. Their seemingly endless energy

2. That hugs are always seconds away from turning into wrestling matches.

3. Hopefully avoiding the drama of the teenage years – I have to believe in exchange for the craziness that comes with young boys, I’ll have more peace in the middle school and high school years (please do not burst my bubble)

4. Their infectious laughter

5. No need to learn to do hair, just take them to get haircuts.

6. The father-son bond. I feel like this is so special and important since it helps shape the men they are to become and I just love how much my boys love their daddy (and vice versa).

7. Mommy always comes first – though we are trying to avoid total momma’s boys.

8. They seem to come with an innate sense that the words “butt” and “poop” are hilarious and know how to shoot at each other and make gun sounds without having been taught – this both fascinates me and drives me crazy.

9. In following tradition, no weddings to pay for… in theory.

10. I have never had to read a princess book or watch a princess movie – I much prefer Cars and Lightening McQueen any princess out there.

  1. Love this post! Again, not because I have anything against girls…but I do harbor resentment toward the “princess” junk. 🙂

Seriously, I agree on every point!

    • I am so glad to not have to deal with princess stuff… and though I loved playing Barbies growing up, I’m also glad I don’t have to deal with that.

  2. LOVE this – I am a mommy to two boys, and I told my husband the other day if (big if) we have any more kids, I hope they are all boys. I am soooo glad to not deal with princess stuff. Though I do wonder what I am going to do with all of my old Baby-sitter Club books. 😉

  3. I love it! Such great reasons to love my boys and be thankful to have another one! And I have to add, I love that my boys don’t have that shrill scream that I hear coming from other preschool-aged girls!

  4. Aw, boys rule! And they do so love their mamas, don’t they?

  5. Cute!! Love the photo sequence of couch-to-floor and also the sweet smiles they are giving each other from their carseats. Love the love!

    • I wish they loved each other like that all the time – but sadly it’s mostly yelling and taking toys. But it will get better with age!

  6. Oh, come on, girls aren’t so bad…and either are princesses 🙂

  7. I wish I had a boy. And the princess thing and the color pink-it’s weird. You try and avoid and not expose, but I heard it’s how God makes their hearts…to be princesses and taken care of and pretty. Sooo…I’m trying to take a spiritual spin on it. 🙂

Have something to say about that? I'd love to hear from you!
